Young and Restless

Total positive [non-homo] compliments from gents about my moustache this week: 3

Nerd Rage 1.0

I [kinda] take back my remarks yesterday regarding iTunes 7 and their 'Get Album Art' feature. I tried it out and it is pretty cool. It got about 70% of the artworks for my albums. However, I was under the impression that it downloaded the covers to the directory of that album, and called it 'cover.jpg' or something. Now that would be wicked. The 'Show Duplicates' feature is also a very good idea, and seems to work pretty well.

Song title of the year - 'Whoo! Alright! Yeah ... Uh Huh' by The Rapture. Gamed over.

Went and saw Young and Restless last night at Candy's Apartment. It turned out we were on the guestlist as 'industry' (WT-Phuck) for some reason, so we skipped out on the $4 entry fee, or whatever it was. Always, a pretty nice kick-start. I feel great about going to see bands that have no money, and not supporting them at all with my entry fee. Fucking awesome feeling, all up inside my love areas.

The Paper Scissors, after DJ Hipster TossBag finished his set, opened up the music part of the evening. They were good, although the crowd wasn't very receptive (except when they played their 'radio single') and the next DJ (part of Van She or some tosspot band like that) started 'dropping a beat' in while the band still had two songs to go.

That generally set the tone for the evening. There was a handful of people there to see the two scheduled bands play and a large group who were there to snort speed in the toilets, dance to a remix of the latest song by The Killers and compliment each other on how well each others' headbands matched their leopard skin tights and ironic visors.

This is the live music scene now? The only bands getting decent crowds are the dancy ones, with a 'cool' image and hipster stylings. Hey phuckwits, go to a rave or something and leave the punking rock shows for drunk dickheads and stoner dropouts. Jebus.

Ok, so anyways, after another DJ set by another bass player of another band, Young and Restless, lead by the crazy little Asian girl lead singer, got down to business.

Photo not by me.. More here

They were wild, screamy, energetic and awesome. In that order. I could see maybe they weren't for everyone, but if you imagine a little bit Death From Above 1979 and a little bit of Die! Die! Die! with just a garnish of that first [more-punky-brewster] Yeah Yeah Yeah's album, then you about halfway there. Screamy songs are the new danceable ones.

But don't believe me.. Go and download some of their songs and see for yourself.

We saw this guy there also and he talked about how shit hot my moustache was. Nice guy. Mike says I am too anti-social in public, well fuck him and his outgoing-ness.

For the majoirty of the way home (damned Kings Cross and the changing trains system) we discussed the pros and cons of introducing a law where if you were to rape a child, you would be forced to eat it. If you could eat it then you get off on the crime. Sure, the system has flaws and very little benefits for the public, but eating babies is wicked. The conversation was sparked by Mike claiming that it was not currently illegal to have sex with a goat, because it can be eaten.

But hey, YO!!! check me out... I am going to see Boy From Oz tonight and wine and dine my little lady before kicking into a slow weekend of BBQ's, recovering from a little jog or something and continuing my episode conquest of season 1 of Murder One. Bestest.
